  alien好像也指寄居的外国人。如果这外国人是洋人,无论官员还是百姓对他们还是非常客气的,以至于到了献媚的程度。所以一般西方人到中国来,会觉得中国人很好客。

  官员媚外原因有三,一是他可以把与洋人的合影放到年终的工作总结报告里,所为他改革开放的政绩。二是如果洋人投诉,那他吃不了就得兜着走了。三是,找洋人把儿子搞到海外去留学。这样贪来的钱才好洗了。
  老百姓对洋人客气,那是真好客。

  Lesson Forty-three The Golden Calf 金牛犊
  
  So all the people took off their earrings and brought them to Aaron. He took what they handed him and made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then they said, "These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt." When Aaron saw this, he built an altar in front of the calf and announced, "Tomorrow there will be a festival to the LORD." So the next day the people rose early and sacrificed burnt offerings and presented fellowship offerings. Afterward they sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in revelry. Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go down, because your people, whom you brought up out of Egypt, have become corrupt. They have been quick to turn away from what I commanded them and have made themselves an idol cast in the shape of a calf. They have bowed down to it and sacrificed to it and have said, ’These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.’

  百姓献祭真有点意思,一是他们舍得做出牺牲,把自己的金环都献了出来,二是,他们献祭也是照神的要求献的,有燔祭,平安祭。甚至他们的出发点都是好的,亚伦说,明天给主献祭。但他们这样做却惹得神很生气。因为他们偏离了神的道。神的道只有一个,敬拜的方式神也规定得很清楚,不能更改,并不是条条道路通罗马。只有一位神,只有一条道路。而耶稣就是这条道路,耶稣就是这位神。
  
  百姓就都摘下他们耳上的金环、拿来给亚伦。亚伦从他们手里接过来、铸了一只牛犊、用雕刻的器具作成.他们就说、以色列阿、这是领你出埃及地的神。亚伦看见、就在牛犊面前筑坛、且宣告说、明日要向耶和华守节。次日清早、百姓起来献燔祭、和平安祭、就坐下吃喝、起来玩耍。耶和华吩咐摩西说、下去吧、因为你的百姓、就是你从埃及地领出来的、已经败坏了。他们快快偏离了我所吩咐的道、为自己铸了一只牛犊、向他下拜献祭、说、以色列阿、这就是领你出埃及地的神。出埃及记32:3-8

  圣经转眼间已读完了两本书了,创世纪与出埃及记都是十分重要的文献,需要多读。现在我们进入利未记。这是摩西五经(Pentateuch)中的第三本书。因为这本书很大一部分涉及献祭与诫命,而献祭及带领以色列人遵守诫命是利未人的职责,所以这本书叫利未记。这一本书对于了解以色列人的习俗和思维很重要。前面花了不少篇幅介绍圣经的基础,考虑到圣经内容很丰富,所以利未记只能用三节课的功夫来介绍,请大家这几天一定把利未记通读一边。
  
  Lesson Forty-four The Death of Nadab and Abihu
  1 Aaron’s sons Nadab and Abihu took their censers, put fire in them and added incense; and they offered unauthorized fire before the LORD, contrary to his command. 2 So fire came out from the presence of the LORD and consumed them, and they died before the LORD. 3 Moses then said to Aaron, "This is what the LORD spoke of when he said: " ’Among those who approach me I will show myself holy; in the sight of all the people I will be honored.’ " Aaron remained silent. 4 Moses summoned Mishael and Elzaphan, sons of Aaron’s uncle Uzziel, and said to them, "Come here; carry your cousins outside the camp, away from the front of the sanctuary." 5 So they came and carried them, still in their tunics, outside the camp, as Moses ordered. 6 Then Moses said to Aaron and his sons Eleazar and Ithamar, "Do not let your hair become unkempt, [a] and do not tear your clothes, or you will die and the LORD will be angry with the whole community. But your relatives, all the house of Israel, may mourn for those the LORD has destroyed by fire. 7 Do not leave the entrance to the Tent of Meeting or you will die, because the LORD’s anointing oil is on you."   读旧约,有时候我们会感到神会发一些无名火。我们要知道,圣经叙事很简略,中间有点细节圣经没有提,所以我们现代人很难知道这两个人究竟犯了什么样的罪。当然,很多人得出结论说,敬拜神也要照神所立的规矩,这点没有错。但是,这两个家伙究竟在哪方面违规呢?我个人的揣测是,有人可能犯了罪,偷偷地要这两个家伙献祭消灾,这两个家伙接受了一点贿赂,私自去献祭。而神是圣洁的。这本书的主题就是圣洁:You shall be holy, For I the Lord your God am holy. 你们要圣洁,因为我耶和华你们的神是圣洁的。(19:2),你接受贿赂去献祭,知法犯法,焉能怪神不客气?
  
  拿答、亚比户之死
  亚伦的儿子拿答、亚比户、各拿自己的香炉、盛上火、加上香、在耶和华面前献上凡火、是耶和华没有吩咐他们的。就有火从耶和华面前出来、把他们烧灭、他们就死在耶和华面前。于是摩西对亚伦说、这就是耶和华所说、我在亲近我的人中、要显为圣、在众民面前、我要得荣耀.亚伦就默默不言。摩西召了亚伦叔父乌薛的儿子米沙利、以利撒反来、对他们说、上前来把你们的亲属从圣所前抬到营外。于是二人上前来、把他们穿着袍子抬到营外.是照摩西所吩咐的。摩西对亚伦和他儿子以利亚撒、以他玛、说、不可蓬头散发、也不可撕裂衣裳、免得你们死亡、又免得耶和华向会众发怒、只要你们的弟兄以色列全家、为耶和华所发的火哀哭。你们也不可出会幕的门、恐怕你们死亡、因为耶和华的膏油在你们的身上。他们就照摩西的话行了。利未记10:1-7

  利未记故事性没有创世纪和出埃及记可读性强,不过还是要勉励自己努力再读一遍吧。

  Lesson Forty-five Unacceptable Sacrifices
  
  The LORD said to Moses, "Speak to Aaron and his sons and to all the Israelites and say to them: ’If any of you—either an Israelite or an alien living in Israel—presents a gift for a burnt offering to the LORD, either to fulfill a vow or as a freewill offering, you must present a male without defect from the cattle, sheep or goats in order that it may be accepted on your behalf. Do not bring anything with a defect, because it will not be accepted on your behalf. When anyone brings from the herd or flock a fellowship offering to the LORD to fulfill a special vow or as a freewill offering, it must be without defect or blemish to be acceptable.
  When you sacrifice a thank offering to the LORD, sacrifice it in such a way that it will be accepted on your behalf.

  Lesson Forty-six Confession
  
  40 " ’But if they will confess their sins and the sins of their fathers—their treachery against me and their hostility toward me, 41 which made me hostile toward them so that I sent them into the land of their enemies—then when their uncircumcised hearts are humbled and they pay for their sin, 42 I will remember my covenant with Jacob and my covenant with Isaac and my covenant with Abraham, and I will remember the land. 43 For the land will be deserted by them and will enjoy its sabbaths while it lies desolate without them. They will pay for their sins because they rejected my laws and abhorred my decrees. 44 Yet in spite of this, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not reject them or abhor them so as to destroy them completely, breaking my covenant with them. I am the LORD their God.

  Lesson Forty-seven The Responsibility of the Tribe of Levi
  
  45 All the Israelites twenty years old or more who were able to serve in Israel’s army were counted according to their families. The total number was 603,550. 47 The families of the tribe of Levi, however, were not counted along with the others. 48 The LORD had said to Moses: 49 "You must not count the tribe of Levi or include them in the census of the other Israelites. 50 Instead, appoint the Levites to be in charge of the tabernacle of the Testimony—over all its furnishings and everything belonging to it. They are to carry the tabernacle and all its furnishings; they are to take care of it and encamp around it. 51 Whenever the tabernacle is to move, the Levites are to take it down, and whenever the tabernacle is to be set up, the Levites shall do it. Anyone else who goes near it shall be put to death.
  
  第一句句子比较长,但结构并不复杂。主句是:all the Israelites were counted. Twenty years old or more 修饰the Israelites,who带出一个从句修饰the Israelites,according to their families 是状语,修饰count。

  利未人在以色列人中的地位很高,因为他们是一批全时间的服事神的人。利未人的工作看起来很简单,就是搬动一下帐幕,然而这项服事十分的神圣。有些非基督徒对教会不了解,问一个教会为什么要有全时间的同工,他们是不是一个礼拜就上半天的班(主日半天),而且教会内部的信徒对这项神圣的服事也不重视,觉得是教会内走投无路的人才会全时间去服事。任何服事神的人,一定要圣洁、专心致志,不要想着还去做什么生意。
  
  利未族的责任
  这样凡以色列人中被数的、照着宗族从二十岁以外、能出去打仗被数的、共有六十万零三千五百五十名。利未人却没有按着支派数在其中、 因为耶和华晓谕摩西说、 惟独利未支派你不可数点、也不可在以色列人中计算他们的总数。只要派利未人管法柜的帐幕和其中的器具、并属乎帐幕的、他们要抬〔抬或作搬运〕帐幕和其中的器具、并要办理帐幕的事.在帐幕的四围安营。帐幕将往前行的时候、利未人要拆卸、将支搭的时候、利未人要竖起.近前来的外人必被治死。民数记1:46-51

  对于规模大的家庭教会,比方说人数超过4,50人甚至上百人,的确需要专职“牧师”或“同工”。
  不过我有点担心,如果家庭教会的牧师只拿微薄的仅够基本生活费的补贴,而没有其他合法收入,加上教会的监督机制缺乏或不合理,他们会很容易受到诱惑而贪心于教友的奉献款。
  如果以奉献款的固定百分比来拿补贴,结果就会造成,在牧师的眼里,到教会里来的每个新面孔都会变异为钱。
  相当一部分天真可爱的教友认为,对奉献款的监督使用并不重要,因为如果有人贪了属神的钱,神一定会惩罚他。这种态度实际上是纵容了奉献款的滥用。

  10 Moses heard the people of every family wailing, each at the entrance to his tent. The LORD became exceedingly angry, and Moses was troubled. 11 He asked the LORD, "Why have you brought this trouble on your servant? What have I done to displease you that you put the burden of all these people on me? 12 Did I conceive all these people? Did I give them birth? Why do you tell me to carry them in my arms, as a nurse carries an infant, to the land you promised on oath to their forefathers? 13 Where can I get meat for all these people? They keep wailing to me, ’Give us meat to eat!’ 14 I cannot carry all these people by myself; the burden is too heavy for me

  摩西也是性情中人。面对这样一大群刁民,摩西也没有那种宰相肚里能撑船的气度,而是很生气、很失望。他本来在埃及做王子做得好好的,结果神把他带到了旷野;本来他做羊官郎做得好好的,结果神又把他带回去解救这些奴性十足的同胞。摩西肯定更愿意放旷野里的羊,而不愿意放这些刁民羊。今天蒙召做牧者的人,或者牧羊的过程中,要学会有足够的心理准备,你的羊可能不会比摩西的羊好多少。还是主耶稣有爱心:“我多次願意聚集你的儿女、好像母雞把小雞聚集在翅膀底下、只是你們不願意。”(路加福音13:34)耶稣为了这些偏行己路的羊,最后走向了十字架。
  
  摩西听见百姓、各在各家的帐棚门口哭号。耶和华的怒气便大发作、摩西就不喜悦。摩西对耶和华说、你为何苦待仆人、我为何不在你眼前蒙恩、竟把这管理百姓的重任加在我身上呢.这百姓岂是我怀的胎、岂是我生下来的呢。你竟对我说、把他们抱在怀里、如养育之父抱吃奶的孩子、直抱到你起誓应许给他们祖宗的地去。我从哪里得肉给这百姓吃呢、他们都向我哭号说、你给我们肉吃吧。 管理这百姓的责任太重了、我独自担当不起。民数记11:10-14

  Lesson Forty-nine Ten Unfaithful Men
  
  30 Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, "We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it." 31 But the men who had gone up with him said, "We can’t attack those people; they are stronger than we are." 32 And they spread among the Israelites a bad report about the land they had explored. They said, "The land we explored devours those living in it. All the people we saw there are of great size. 33 We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them."1 That night all the people of the community raised their voices and wept aloud. 2 All the Israelites grumbled against Moses and Aaron, and the whole assembly said to them, "If only we had died in Egypt! Or in this desert! 3 Why is the LORD bringing us to this land only to let us fall by the sword? Our wives and children will be taken as plunder. Wouldn’t it be better for us to go back to Egypt?" 4 And they said to each other, "We should choose a leader and go back to Egypt."
  
  silence 此词一般为名词,例如:We are guilty of the sin of silence when we don’t condemn corruption. 如果我们不谴责腐败的话,我们就犯了沉默的罪。但在这里是动词。A lot of times, fear will silence Christians. 基督徒常常因为惧怕而沉默。
  take possession of 占领,取得,The state cannot turn the private possessions into the public property by force. 国家不能强行将私有财产变为国有。
  who had gone up 这是个从句,who修饰前面的men,had gone 过去完成时
  stronger than 比某人强壮,比较级,单音节形容词后面加er便构成了比较级。

  “立一个首领”,英语是choose a leader,也就是民主选举一位领袖。相对于独裁,民主选举的确要优越得多,但是在神面前,民主选举就只能说明悖逆神的人很多,甚至是全社会。耶稣就是经过民主被送上了十字架。在神面前、在耶稣面前,我们只能顺服。真可谓,不听上帝言,吃亏在眼前。

   1 Be careful to follow every command I am giving you today, so that you may live and increase and may enter and possess the land that the LORD promised on oath to your forefathers. 2 Remember how the LORD your God led you all the way in the desert these forty years, to humble you and to test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands. 3 He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your fathers had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD. 4 Your clothes did not wear out and your feet did not swell during these forty years. 5 Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the LORD your God disciplines you.

   28 At the end of every three years, bring all the tithes of that year’s produce and store it in your towns, 29 so that the Levites (who have no allotment or inheritance of their own) and the aliens, the fatherless and the widows who live in your towns may come and eat and be satisfied, and so that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.

  中国人普遍抱怨,中国的富人不愿意捐钱,大家会说,你看美国的首富比尔盖茨,他发了财,就把家当全部捐出来了。但是我们要问的是,如果中国人普遍都不乐意捐钱,我们有什么理由要求富人捐钱?难道捐款是富人才能做到吗?这里圣经告诉我们,任何人(当然是爱神的人),不管贫富都应该乐意奉献,乐意捐出自己的收入。十分之一只是一个参考系数,你生活实在困难,不能捐,或者只能捐百分之一,神也乐于看到,如果你得的多,奉献也理所当然得多。这里圣经也告诉了我们,十一奉献的用途:用于敬拜神、支持利未人、帮助教会内的孤寡老人、孤儿、以及教会外那些有需要的人(外乡人、外邦人)。只想富人捐钱而自己不愿捐的人实在是伪君子。

  人间普遍的行事为人的标准就是以貌取人,以财取人。中国当今最流行的罪恶是性贿赂以及钱财贿赂。凡贪官都有美貌的二奶。人们去庙里烧香,也不过是去贿赂菩萨,以为买柱一万元的高香,就可以消灾了。花钱消灾实际上就是贿赂消灾。而圣经中的神明确告诉我们,神是不接受贿赂的。这里也很好地解释了为什么中国所有的贪官都拜菩萨,而绝对不会来拜耶和华这位神,因为中国人都相信,菩萨保佑那些买得起高香的人,而耶和华不受贿赂。今天城市里的基督徒一定要善待从到城市打工的农民工,他们的家都被现代化给摧毁,无论是心灵还是物质生活都是处于社会的旷野,无依无靠。中国两、三亿农民工谁去关心他们?他们就是“寄住的”。
  
  敬畏耶和华
  因为耶和华你们的 神他是万神之神、万主之主、至大的 神、大有能力、大而可畏、不以貌取人、也不受贿赂。他为孤儿寡妇伸冤、又怜爱寄居的、赐给他衣食。所以你们要怜爱寄居的、因为你们在埃及地也作过寄居的。你要敬畏耶和华你的 神、事奉他、专靠他、也要指着他的名起誓。他是你所赞美的、是你的 神、为你作了那大而可畏的事、是你亲眼所看见的。你的列祖七十人下埃及、现在耶和华你的 神使你如同天上的星那样多。申命记10:17-22

  1 After the death of Moses the servant of the LORD, the LORD said to Joshua son of Nun, Moses’ aide: 2 "Moses my servant is dead.   巨人摩西走后,嫩小子约书亚成为了以色列的掌门人。耶和华给新一代人只有两个指示:一是要刚强壮胆;在这短短的一段话里,神三次提到约书亚当刚强壮胆。二是要牢记、遵行神的话。至少在三种场合,我们要做到刚强壮胆,当逼迫来临时,刚强壮胆不退却。现在的迫害虽然不像多年前那么惨烈,但也常常会发生。面对世界的诱惑,我们也要刚强壮胆不妥协。这个世界告诉我们要多赚钱,这是人生价值的体现,但基督徒要说“不”。在教会服事,面对人言可畏我们刚强壮胆。教会是个罪人聚集地,这些罪人一方面追求神的爱,一方面对弟兄姐妹要评头论足,所以纠纷不断,这时同工怕得罪人而不敢宣讲神的话语。

   1 Then Joshua son of Nun secretly sent two spies from Shittim. "Go, look over the land," he said, "especially Jericho." So they went and entered the house of a prostitute named Rahab and stayed there. 2 The king of Jericho was told, "Look! Some of the Israelites have come here tonight to spy out the land." 3 So the king of Jericho sent this message to Rahab: "Bring out the men who came to you and entered your house, because they have come to spy out the whole land." 4 But the woman had taken the two men and hidden them.   Lesson Sixty Crossing the Jordan
  12 Now then, choose twelve men from the tribes of Israel, one from each tribe. 13 And as soon as the priests who carry the ark of the LORD -the Lord of all the earth—set foot in the Jordan, its waters flowing downstream will be cut off and stand up in a heap." 14 So when the people broke camp to cross the Jordan, the priests carrying the ark of the covenant went ahead of them. 15 Now the Jordan is at flood stage all during harvest. Yet as soon as the priests who carried the ark reached the Jordan and their feet touched the water's edge, 16 the water from upstream stopped flowing. It piled up in a heap a great distance away, at a town called Adam in the vicinity of Zarethan, while the water flowing down to the Sea of the Arabah (the Salt Sea [a] ) was completely cut off. So the people crossed over opposite Jericho. 17 The priests who carried the ark of the covenant of the LORD stood firm on dry ground in the middle of the Jordan, while all Israel passed by until the whole nation had completed the crossing on dry ground.

  12你们现在要从以色列支派中拣选十二个人,每支派一人,13等到抬普天下主耶和华约柜的祭司把脚站在约旦河水里,约旦河的水,就是从上往下流的水,必然断绝,立起成垒。14百姓离开帐棚要过约旦河的时候,抬约柜的祭司乃在百姓的前头。15他们到了约旦河,脚一入水(原来约旦河水在收割的日子涨过两岸),16那从上往下流的水便在极远之地,撒拉但旁的亚当城那里停住,立起成垒。那往亚拉巴的海,就是盐海,下流的水全然断绝。于是百姓在耶利哥的对面过去了。17抬耶和华约柜的祭司在约旦河中的干地上站定,以色列众人都从干地上过去,直到国民尽都过了约旦河。约书亚记3:12-17

  Lesson Sixty-four Judges raised up
  
   16 Then the LORD raised up judges, [a] who saved them out of the hands of these raiders. 17 Yet they would not listen to their judges but prostituted themselves to other gods and worshiped them. Unlike their fathers, they quickly turned from the way in which their fathers had walked, the way of obedience to the LORD's commands. 18 Whenever the LORD raised up a judge for them, he was with the judge and saved them out of the hands of their enemies as long as the judge lived; for the LORD had compassion on them as they groaned under those who oppressed and afflicted them. 19 But when the judge died, the people returned to ways even more corrupt than those of their fathers, following other gods and serving and worshiping them. They refused to give up their evil practices and stubborn ways. Judges 2:16-19

  约书亚死后,以色列人进入了士师时代。士师很重要,既要在属灵的事上带领以色列人,又要冲锋陷阵来拯救他们,还要治理。耶和华看着自己的选民,既失望又疼爱,他们一而再再而三地悖逆,同时他们又遭受外邦人的欺压。我们今天的同胞很有点像这情况,一方面他们悖逆神,拜偶像,一方面整个民族精神失落,醉生梦死。士师来帮助以色列民,但他们却不听从士师。为神服事的人大多有这样的经历,你花很多的时间去服事一个群体,这些人却不服从你。他们觉得牧者为他们做的事都是理所当然的。但神的爱永不止息。
  
  兴起士师
  16 耶和华兴起士师,士师就拯救他们脱离抢夺他们人的手。 17 他们却不听从士师,竟随从叩拜别神,行了邪淫,速速地偏离他们列祖所行的道,不如他们列祖顺从耶和华的命令。 18 耶和华为他们兴起士师,就与那士师同在。士师在世的一切日子,耶和华拯救他们脱离仇敌的手。他们因受欺压扰害,就哀声叹气,所以耶和华后悔了。 19 及至士师死后,他们就转去行恶,比他们列祖更甚,去事奉叩拜别神,总不断绝顽梗的恶行。士师记2:16-19

  终于到了旧约中我非常喜欢的《士师记》。参孙、以笏,还有女英雄底波拉的故事最让人着迷。以笏俨然就是以色列的荆轲。而底波拉则是圣经中极其罕见的女性故事主角和正面人物之一。

  Lesson Sixty-five Gideon
  
  The LORD said to Gideon, "You have too many men for me to deliver Midian into their hands. In order that Israel may not boast against me that her own strength has saved her, 3 announce now to the people, 'Anyone who trembles with fear may turn back and leave Mount Gilead.' " So twenty-two thousand men left, while ten thousand remained.
   4 But the LORD said to Gideon, "There are still too many men. Take them down to the water, and I will sift them for you there. If I say, 'This one shall go with you,' he shall go; but if I say, 'This one shall not go with you,' he shall not go."
   5 So Gideon took the men down to the water. There the LORD told him, "Separate those who lap the water with their tongues like a dog from those who kneel down to drink." 6 Three hundred men lapped with their hands to their mouths. All the rest got down on their knees to drink.
   7 The LORD said to Gideon, "With the three hundred men that lapped I will save you and give the Midianites into your hands. Let all the other men go, each to his own place." 8 So Gideon sent the rest of the Israelites to their tents but kept the three hundred, who took over the provisions and trumpets of the others.
   Now the camp of Midian lay below him in the valley.

  前面有神给约书亚开出路,让以色列人意识到神的大能,这里神再次向选民显神迹,都只有一个目的,就是要让选民知道,是神在做,免得他们吹牛。今天有些基督徒喜欢吹牛。宣称自己有医病赶鬼的能力。如果真的有鬼被赶走了,是神在赶呢,还是这个吹牛皮的基督徒在赶呢?很多人做见证,都是不经意间吹牛皮,只是在见证的末尾最后才把神抬了出来。我们做见证时、在听见证时,一定要小心,我们是否将荣耀都归给了神。
  
  基甸
  耶和华对基甸说:“跟随你的人过多,我不能将米甸人交在他们手中,免得以色列人向我夸大,说:‘是我们自己的手救了我们。’现在你要向这些人宣告说:‘凡惧怕胆怯的,可以离开基列山回去。’”于是有二万二千人回去,只剩下一万。耶和华对基甸说:“人还是过多;你要带他们下到水旁,我好在那里为你试试他们。我指点谁说:‘这人可以同你去’,他就可以同你去;我指点谁说:‘这人不可同你去’,他就不可同你去。” 基甸就带他们下到水旁。耶和华对基甸说:“凡用舌头舔水,象狗舔的,要使他单站在一处;凡跪下喝水的,也要使他单站在一处。” 于是用手捧着舔水的有三百人,其余的都跪下喝水。耶和华对基甸说:“我要用这舔水的三百人拯救你们,将米甸人交在你手中;其余的人都可以各归各处去。” 这三百人就带着食物和角;其余的以色列人,基甸都打发他们各归各的帐棚,只留下这三百人。米甸营在他下边的平原里。士师记 7:2-8

  中国有句古话:英雄难过美人关。参孙在士师记里是个重要人物,他一个人独得了三章的分量,比其他士师占的篇幅都多,士师记从他还没有出生就写起,神在他身上花了很大的精力,他也的确为神立了不少功。旧约里有好些像参孙的人,舍得为神献身,不怕流血,但却跌倒在石榴裙下。一个女人,竟把他攻破。对于一些人,“眼目的情欲”自古都是一场难胜的争战。其实,人间美好的东西,例如金钱、美貌、名誉、地位,都无时不刻地可能转化为人犯罪的诱惑。当参孙犯罪时,神已经离开了他,而他还不知道。圣经作者对这个人感到极为惋惜,他最后悔悟,死得悲壮,他最后对敌人的一击超过了平生的所有战绩之和,也算是与他最后悔改相称的行为了。

  撒母耳出生
  哈拿心里愁苦,就痛痛哭泣,祈祷耶和华,许愿说:“万军之耶和华啊!你若垂顾婢女的苦情,眷念不忘婢女,赐我一个儿子,我必使他终身归与耶和华,不用剃头刀剃他的头。”哈拿在耶和华面前不住地祈祷,以利定睛看她的嘴。原来哈拿心中默祷,只动嘴唇,不出声音,因此以利以为她喝醉了。以利对她说:“你要醉到几时呢?你不应该喝酒!”哈拿回答说:“主啊!不是这样,我是心里愁苦的妇人,清酒浓酒都没有喝,但在耶和华面前倾心吐意。不要将婢女看作不正经的女子;我因被人激动,愁苦太多,所以祈求到如今。”以利说:“你可以平平安安地回去,愿以色列的 神,允准你向他所求的。”哈拿说:“愿婢女在你眼前蒙恩。”于是妇人走去吃饭,面上再不带愁容了。次日清早,他们起来,在耶和华面前敬拜,就回拉玛。到了家里,以利加拿和妻哈拿同房,耶和华顾念哈拿,哈拿就怀孕。日期满足,生了一个儿子,给他起名叫撒母耳,说:“这是我从耶和华那里求来的。” 撒母耳上1:10-20

But Samuel replied: "Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the LORD ? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams. For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD , he has rejected you as king." Then Saul said to Samuel, "I have sinned. I violated the LORD's command and your instructions.   扫罗在旧约中是位重要的人物。他最开始时默默无闻,没有什么特殊的才华,但神还是拣选了他。他可以说是以色列的第一位君王,而之前只有士师。当撒母耳宣布扫罗就是神所拣选的君王时,大家都不知道他是谁(10:21),找了半天也找不着这样一个人。要记住,神是不愿以色列人有君王的,是这些出于悖逆强行要求,神就给了他们一位君王,所以尽管以色列人并不认识他,但大家还是欢欣鼓舞。扫罗的出现只是为大卫王的出现做铺垫。扫罗没有多久,就表现出了他并不是特别地追求神,所以后来神得把他拉下马。大卫在成为君王前,像摩西一样,经历很多的磨练。

The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." 8 Then Jesse called Abinadab and had him pass in front of Samuel. "There is still the youngest," Jesse answered, "but he is tending the sheep." Samuel said, "Send for him; we will not sit down [a] until he arrives." 12 So he sent and had him brought in. He was ruddy, with a fine appearance and handsome features. Then the LORD said, "Rise and anoint him; he is the one." 13 So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the LORD came upon David in power.   44 "Come here," he said, "and I'll give your flesh to the birds of the air and the beasts of the field!" 45 David said to the Philistine, "You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. 46 This day the LORD will hand you over to me, and I'll strike you down and cut off your head. Today I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. 47 All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves; for the battle is the LORD's, and he will give all of you into our hands." 48 As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him. 49 Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell facedown on the ground.

  Lesson Seventy-three David, Saul and Jonathan
  
  After David had finished talking with Saul, Jonathan became one in spirit with David, and he loved him as himself. 2 From that day Saul kept David with him and did not let him return to his father's house. 3 And Jonathan made a covenant with David because he loved him as himself. 4 Jonathan took off the robe he was wearing and gave it to David, along with his tunic, and even his sword, his bow and his belt. 5 Whatever Saul sent him to do, David did it so successfully that Saul gave him a high rank in the army. This pleased all the people, and Saul's officers as well. 6 When the men were returning home after David had killed the Philistine, the women came out from all the towns of Israel to meet King Saul with singing and dancing, with joyful songs and with tambourines and lutes. 7 As they danced, they sang: "Saul has slain his thousands, and David his tens of thousands." 8 Saul was very angry; this refrain galled him. "They have credited David with tens of thousands," he thought, "but me with only thousands. What more can he get but the kingdom?" 9 And from that time on Saul kept a jealous eye on David.

  从这章开始一直到撒母耳记上结束,圣经花了很长的篇幅告诉了我们大卫与扫罗约拿单的故事,中间充满了爱恨交加。扫罗嫉妒大卫,由嫉妒生出恨来,恨生出杀心。而大卫却始终以仁爱,敬畏神的心来处理与扫罗的关系,几次放过了扫罗。同时,约拿单与扫罗又截然不同,如同大卫,是一位真正属神的人。王位明明可以属于自己,约拿单却告诉大卫,由大卫作王,他作宰相。这只有深明耶和华旨意的人才能如此大度,整个故事也一再表明,大卫的确是神所亲自拣选的君王。
